Choose a route that works for you

We have two routes to becoming a qualified teacher, both allowing you to gain QTS and a PGCE qualification.

  • Unsalaried

Our unsalaried route (also referred to as a 'tuition fee' or 'fee paying' route) is our most traditional route and is ideal for recent graduates or those fairly new to the teaching profession. It is available to those that wish to teach at primary or secondary level, and across our full range of secondary subject courses.

  • Salaried

This route, using the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship scheme, is a suitable route for graduates with some classroom experience. This classroom experience could have been gained as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or as an unqualified teacher.

  • What makes us different

    A recognised quality of teaching

We are recognised as a national leader in teacher training by the Good Teacher Training Guide 2017 and judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, noting that “the ambition and very strong collaborative work between all those involved in the training partnership result in consistently high-quality training, excellent outcomes and outstanding teachers”.

  • What makes us different

    A strong curriculum approach

Future Academies has undertaken a pioneering initiative to develop a knowledge-rich approach to curriculum design, initially inspired by the impact on attainment of E.D. Hirsch's Core Knowledge Curriculum. Our curriculum has attracted national attention: Future Academies’ sponsors, which founded The Curriculum Centre, were part of DfE’s Curriculum Fund support schools with their curricula and its associated teacher-centred pedagogy.

  • What makes us different

A varied network of partner schools

The schools we work with share our vision and ethos for excellent teacher development and are child-centred organisations that work together to implement a knowledge-rich curriculum that transforms children’s lives and overcomes any barriers they face.
