Future Teacher Training is part of Future Academies, a family of ten schools which has built a reputation for achieving the highest standards for all its pupils. Our Initial Teacher Education programme adopts a school-based approach, providing a main placement in one of our Future Academies or external partner schools.

Churchill Gardens Primary Academy is a popular one-form entry school with committed and dedicated staff who work with families to develop independent lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
Churchill Gardens was rated ‘Good’ during its last Ofsted inspection.

Millbank Academy is a two-form entry primary school offering an excellent education characterised by a first-rate curriculum and the rigour of high-quality teaching.

Pimlico Primary | Westminster
Pimlico Primary is a free school that opened in September 2013. Pimlico Primary is a new school in a new building; and it sets a new standard in primary school education, with subjects engagingly introduced from the first year in school.
In the grounds of Pimlico Academy, it has light and spacious classrooms, a library, a gym hall, sheltered outdoor play areas, a roof terrace and ‘the Lab’, a special room dedicated to art and science.

The Charter School East Dulwich
Opened in September 2016, CSED is one of the most oversubscribed new schools in the country. Their founding cohort of students have now successfully completed their GCSEs and are completing their Sixth Form studies.

West London Free School | Hammersmith
From its foundation in 2011, the West London Free School has been at the forefront of education, both locally and nationally. The school has a distinct and very clear ethos, which is to provide a classical liberal education for pupils of all backgrounds, emphasising scholarship and academic excellence.
The curriculum is rich and knowledge-based and ensures that all the pupils are provided with an education that includes the materials and methods of the great scholars, thinkers and academics. Pupils learn how to study with rigour, diligence and application, so that they can study, absorb and understand their subjects at increasingly challenging levels as they progress through school.

Future Teaching Scholars
Future Teaching Scholars is an organisation that recruits secondary-school leavers with high academic achievement to become teachers of Maths or Physics.
Candidates applying for the programme are required to have at least a grade B or above in A Level Maths or Physics.
They are then sponsored through their undergraduate degree in Maths or Physics, and their Initial Teacher Training.
Their tuition fees are covered by Future Teaching Scholars. Scholars are paid a salary on the unqualified teacher pay-scale by the host school.
Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships
The Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship is a level 6 apprenticeship aimed at candidates with experience in schools. This excellent programme provides candidates with the same training and support as our tuition-fee route, and candidates train towards obtaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
The apprenticeship route is a salaried route. Tuition fees for this route are £9,250 which can be funded through the school's apprenticeship levy. In addition to the trainee teachers' fees being paid, the Department for Education provides grant funding to lead schools in partnerships employing postgraduate apprenticeship trainees. This grant funding is in addition to funding available from the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

The trainee must be paid a salary on the unqualified teacher scale. The salary, UQ1, is at the discretion of the Head teacher. Teaching apprentices can be asked to teach up to 21 periods per week from the beginning of their training year, which do not need to be supervised. The apprentice should be employed for a full 12 months, and provide evidence of meeting the standards in this time. As this route requires the trainee to teach alone and at higher loading, we expect applicants to have experience within schools.
At the end of the apprenticeship there is a final assessment (End Point Assessment) undertaken by an independent body and is usually scheduled in the first term following.
